A Next Generation Law Firm

Small Law is a new breed of law firm in Canada. Often described as a "virtual" law firm, we've abandoned the ivory tower and embraced simplicity and technology while avoiding unnecessary overhead. Small Law is built to provide smart, lightweight, flexible and client focused legal services.

Virtual law firms use flat organizational structures, simple offices and cloud based technology to provide high quality service at a reasonable price. Put simply, Small Law would rather work with you to achieve your goals than chase billable hours to pay for partner golf games and expensive boardroom tables.

we keep things simple

For most people, it doesn't matter if your lawyer works in a large or a small firm. If you want AAA office space and big boardrooms, we know lots of lawyers in traditional law firms that would be happy to charge you for the privilege. We prefer to keep our overhead low so that we can focus on your interests, not billable hours.

client meetings that work for you

Life is busy and we don't expect you to drop everything to visit our offices in the middle of your day. While we always like to meet in person, much of our work can be completed online, over email, the phone or video conference (Skype or Google Hangout).

We use convenient and professional meeting space Downtown and on West Broadway and frequently meet our clients at their business, strata corporations and wherever we are needed.

apps that you love

We love using Dropbox, Microsoft One Drive and Google Apps to share information. We collaborate using tools you know and trust.

PUTTING THE CLIENTS FIRST

You want great legal services at a reasonable and predictable price. We want to focus on delivering results rather than chasing billable hour targets. Let's make this happen.

EVOLVING TO MEET YOUR NEEDS

Small Law is built from the ground up to embrace technology. We see it as a tool to improve service, not a threat to our business model.

built-in digital services

When we find a great online service that our clients love, we use it. For example, as much as we love printing, signing, scanning and faxing agreements, we prefer to use industry leading digital signing technology when possible.

payments that work for you

Has it been a while since you wrote a paper cheque? Yeah, we don't write many either. In fact, we encourage our clients to pay for legal services by credit card or interac e-transfer. Using our online client portal, you can quickly view and pay invoices online.

true accessibility

We use industry leading cloud technology (built right here in British Columbia) to share documents, records, files, invoices and messages with clients.

client portal

Login to our convenient client portal to send secure messages and view correspondence, invoices and other important records 24/7. No more digging through your inbox or sending confidential information via email.

you choose how we bill

Unexpected legal bills can be incredibly frustrating. It can also erode trust in our relationship. So, when it comes to pricing, we let you choose how we bill you for legal services.

In most matters, we can work based on regular hourly billing, quoted billing caps or fixed legal fees. We will work to find a pricing model that works for you.

RELATIONSHIPS MATTER

Professional services are based on trust and communication. Small Law uses technology to reduce barriers between you and your lawyer.

LEAVING THE IVORY TOWER BEHIND

There will always be a place in the world for traditional high cost law firms. We simply believe our clients prefer working with a law firm that embraces a different set of values.
